I remember when I used to make skronky punk music. That was the late 90s, and then one day, I came upon The Lioness by Songs: Ohia. Jason Molina’s voice, his poetry, the vulnerability–it struck me like quiet, searing lightning, and it resonated. It awoke that tender place in my heart that didn’t yet have the courage to speak itself the way Jason so bravely and honestly did. He changed my musical path and thus my life, and I will forever be grateful for his courage, honesty and struggle. I may not be singing the songs I do now were it not for Jason’s heartbreakingly beautiful voice and music.
Eternal gratitude and peace to you, Jason.
